Direct flights from JFK are available through several carriers. Iberia tends to offer the most flexible schedules and competitive fares, with an overnight option that lands you in Barcelona in the morning — a great way to hit the ground running.
BWI and Dulles both offer a range of connecting options, typically via Atlanta, Lisbon, or Madrid.
Avianca and Iberia both serve the route well, with direct and one-stop options connecting through Madrid.
The most direct option. Typical fare ranges from €30–40 and most major credit cards are accepted. Please note that Discover and American Express are not widely accepted in Spain.
The Aerobús (A1/A2) runs 24 hours between the airport and Plaça Catalunya and is a reliable, affordable option.
Some hotels offer airport pickup. It’s worth checking directly with your accommodation before you arrive.
The city is made for walking. Most neighborhoods are connected and navigable on foot, and the metro covers everything else. Taxis are easy to hail on the street or book through FreeNow. Uber and Cabify are also available.

Barcelona is a welcoming and generally safe city. That said, petty theft does occur in busy areas — keep bags zipped, phones in pockets, and stay aware in crowded spots like the metro and Las Ramblas. A cross-body bag goes a long way.
